Fable (Xbox, 2004)

Fable for xbox is one of the best games for xbox in my mind. To make things even better it is a Action/RPG. In Fable you can do almost anything from killing traders to kicking traders. You can also get married and buy a house to live in. In Fable you also can turn from good to bad and bad to good. What do I mean, I mean that your character changes, by having new abilities and his appearance. The game also has a huge variety of weapons from that includes magic ,melee and ranged weapons. In the story line of Fable you are a child that is separated from his family and story you become a hero and you find your family. Also, in the story there is small quests that can be very fun. And, if you beat the game or you get tired of it just go to a cheat website and find secret passages and weapons. So if you don't have this game buy it.

Graphics are not nearly as intense as todays XBox games. Music is annoying after a while. Now that I have illuminated the negative, I can gladly skip to the multitude of positives about this game.

You play a young child who must survive the devastating loss of his parents and the burning of his town. He must learn to become a warrior in this unique game play environment. Comparable to other games of this genre (role-playing, rpg), it certainly has it's own aspects that make it it's own, including of course the ability to sculpt your persona by doing either good or evil deeds.

Overall this is a stellar unique game with lots of potential. Unfortunately it doesn't have the stellar ratings it deserve because in pre-production and during release it was hyped as the best RPG game ever. That's a lot to try and live up to.

Excellent Game

While I am not by any means a "Hardcore Gamer" I enjoyed this game immensely.

Game Play
This game is based on a rich story in which (without giving anything away) a young boy who loses his family grows up to become a hero. While I wish I could tell you more I don't want to spoil the fun of learning the great story as you play the game. Taking wives, learning skills, earning money, and buying houses is only some of the fun activities you will learn and experience. Easily learnable controls and fantastic controllable viewing angles make this a great game for even a gaming novice.

AI
Weakness in a boss or bad guy is a trait that all games must share for them to be fun and this game's bosses were no exception but I found those weaknesses (on the Medium setting mind you) a little to easy to recognize and exploit in the early parts of the game, this fades as the game goes on and opponents get tougher.

Graphics
I thought that while I have seen more realistic graphics on other games, the graphics served Fable's Fantasy setting outstandingly. Bright when in happy meadows, dark in treacherous forest tunnels. Characters look like your standard cartoon video game humans and assortments of animals (The visual representation of the chickens I thought was done quite well).

Sound
I had this game hooked up to just a 19 inch television with built in speakers so I cant really judge surround settings, however for what it was dealing with (meaning my lack of a stereo system at the time) I thought most of the in games music and sound effects were outstanding.

The Down Side
I love this game ... I don't think their is a downside for me.

Overall
If you are new to the Xbox system or even a seasoned gamer I am sure you will like this game, that is if your looking for a great RPG game that's easily addictive.

This game was hyped up to be the next great rpg, but when it came out the lenth was nothing more then an action/adventure game. That being said the rest of the game was an absolute blast. Many different fighting options along with a cool storyline and the ability to be what you want gave this game great replay value. Also the variety of armor and weapons that effected your abilities and how people viewed you made for some micro managing that games strive for but rarely come through on.

If you are looking for a game to hit hardcore for many hours....this isn't it. If you are looking for an intense game when you play it, but aren't looking to spend a year playing go with Fable. Many options give you more replay and more value for your dollar. 4/5 is fair for a game of this nature, it could have been a 5 had they lived up to the hype, but that was a difficult task.

I think this is a very good game. Its fun the graphics are good. Also there are alot of cool features. You age with time. You get scars from battles. And evrything you do can change you. Now what sucks about this game. It is way to short. The story line is not all that great. WAY WAY WAY TO SHORT......A great rental.....

This game is such an beautiful game that outspurts all beautiful graphical visuals that offers a great play as well! This game is the probably the only game out there in the market where you can actually decide your fate the way YOU want. You can pick the decision of becoming an good man, evil villian, big hero, powerful mage, and so on! This game brings the true depth of the gaming world that other games dont bring. Definitely a must-buy game!

Son wanted it as part of his 16th birthday present. He loves it, the game works good, so he's happy.

Overall Fable is a really good game. Just like the commercials say every action you take in the game affects your characters appearance. The one thing that annoys me about this game is it does have some linearity in quest. Of course you can take side quest but they are not as great as the main quest. Also the Guild master is constantly reminding you to do the main quest. The battle system is pretty good however select your magic spells wisely. You can group them into combination sets but I find you really only need healing,lighting, and the shield speel. I recomend this game for anyone looking for an rpg to play on XBOX.

THIS WAS A REALLY FUN GAME. I AM NOT USUALLY A BIG RPG FAN BUT THIS GAME GOT ME HOOKED. YOU CAN PLAY FOREVER DEPENDING ON HOW YOU CHOOSE TO GO.

while this game may not be as deep or complicated as oblivion or as hardcaore as final fantasy, this is still a deep and rich rpg.
the story is awesome, i just wish they would have incorporated your actions about being evil or good a little more into the story.like have different endings or something like that.
a fun thing to do is doing the little brawls at night. its fun working your way up to the leader of all of the brawlers.
and killing the entire town of Oakvale and owning every single building and shop is kool. if this game was a bit longer it would be the closest thing to perfect ever.
i cant wait until fable 2 on xbox 360 so they can incorparate new ideas and make the game a little bit deeper. if youve never played this gmae before i strongly suggest you pick it up ASAP!

I bought this for a friend at Christmas. They received it, played it but now they have gotten bored with it. Not sure of the reason but it was fun while it lasted.

i bought it because well just because its amazing. I love fantasy, its so much fun and i love to play violent games. the best part is being evil and not giving a poo about other people like the only bad part is that u need to pay dang fines and that reallly reallly suckks. .... yea its my favorite game for sure!!!!!!!!!!

This game was so much fun. Im still in the midst of playing it. One things for sure, make sure you have nothing else to do before you start playing. You will be playing for hours. I recommend this for all the rpg fans.

I loved this game, I mean at first the controls were really different than what I had expected, and it didn't seem like it was going to be my type of game. After I started playing it, it became very fun. There was a very good story line, and a lot of different enemies to fight so it wasn't as repetitive. It's in a way realistic because your character ages as the game progresses which is pretty neat and you can hit on people until they want to marry you which is useless I think but it passes the time if you want a small break from the missions. Overall I sincerely recommend this game to just about everyone, well everyone that's "M" for mature I guess.

I love this game because there are so many variables as to how the story unfolds.
You can be Good Or evil or even some of both.
this game gives you the feeling of really being in it.
the combat is fun and the side quests are awesome.
give it a try, you wont be disapointed.

I bought this game from hearing about it from the video game playing guy with no life down the street. The game is awesome. You control how the people will react to your character by becoming evil or good. By becoming evil your hero grows horns etc, while you recieve a halo for being good. (Evil looks better =D !) You go through the life of becoming a legendary hero with swords, bows, and magic. You have precise aiming with the bows and can even take off enemy's heads with practice. It is a great game with an origional story.

Very good game. I liked the storyline and the fact that whatever I did effects my character. The fact that it was free roaming and i had the ability to do almost whatever I wanted when I wanted was also a good feature. The only thing I didn't really like is that it was to short.

I loved fable when I first got it i was addictaded and beat it in about two days. I was impressed with just about everything graphics storyline etc etc.....the negative thing about this game in my opinion was how short it is for a role playing game but i'd recamend this to any serious rpg player and it was an overall excellent game

From every wrong doing to each good deed you do around albion will change your characters looks and personality. If you are evil from cruel brutality,children will run and you learn the more vulgar expressions, if you are good,people will adore you and you learn common courtesy like saying "sorry", or "thank you." If you get a major wound in the game, it stays with you forever, if you get scratches from the balverines claws, it leaves a large scratch mark.
The game has a great storyline, but it is somewhat short, i ended up beating it in a matter of 2 days. The graphics are decent. Your character in the game never talks. There is a great variety of clothing and weapons in this midevil RPG. The same goes for a towns guards, they don't have high tech stuff like we do right now, if you hide in a house long enough after killing a civilian, with enough time, the guards will forget about it (in a matter of 8 minutes) When you do decide what you want to be, a paladin or a witch hunter, it will also show, too. Lets say you want to be a magic person, with enough time, your hands will start to glow, showing you do magic. Overall, this game is a great game for those who aren't a serious gamer.

fable is a really fun game.you start as a little kid and grow up at a magic guild after some things happen to force you there.there are alot of weapons armor and level ups for your character,the land is pretty big too.your characters appearance changes when doing good or evil(i decided to go the good way)and people react to you depending on which way you go.i would recommend getting the 2nd edition call the lost chapters,its about a 25 hour game if you take your time explore and enjoy the game.there are alot of sides qwests and other cool stuff you will just have to see for yourself.graphics 4/5,gameplay 5/5 ,replay value if you wait a while to play again its about 4/5,sound 4/5.if you want to get every magic level up in the game and everything else it will be maybe a 40 hour game,i am almost at the end and im not really close to gettin all of the magic or other level ups.this game takes you to anouther world and draws you in to it,you feel like your amost there and thats why i like it.get married own shops and houses,rent them out or use them and plenty more stuff.at the price you can get it at you cant go wrong,its worth more than what you can find it for guaranteed.have fun and be careful.

This game was a new experience for me i didn't think i would like it but i did, i like the story telling and it keeps you interested overall , interesting, fun, and it will entertain you....
