Quality Van Damme flick.

Among all the aging action stars of the 80s/90s, I think Van Damme has resisted the temptation of making a lot of paychecks at the expense of poor to average films. Van Damme, in my view, has only improved as an actor as his film budgets get lower. Most of these action stars struggle to make a role that is even comparable to their prime, let alone eclipse them.
The Sheperd is a good flick, and very entertaining. Well made, good supporting cast, and none of the production feel lacking. Van Damme does his martial arts here with some good fights that show he's still on the ball, and not resorting to stunt doubles in wigs...Steven Seagal, anyone? Van Damme also has some moments of humanity and more difficult acting, not many, but he's letting us get glimpses of some growing talent in him.
A good film that I can recomend. I don't imagine many people will see it and not be, at the least, satisfied for the 90 minutes they just spent. A must for Van Damme fans, and a recomended viewing for casual movie goers. Enjoy!
