Genji: Days of the Blade (Playstation 3, 2006)

Make no mistake about it: It truly feels as though the camera in this game hates you and wants you to die. Enemies attack from off-camera. Players can't see what's around the corner. And God forbid there's an important jump that needs to be made. Is all the more frustrating when you consider that gameplay could have been vastly improved with a few simple fixes.

I got this game because of the art on the cover and it was not that expensive. The graphics are not too bad but it just something about it that i didn't like. There was this game balance that was off in my opinion. The view was the major problem. I know where the enemy was but it was slow to react and you can't turn around quick at times making you open to being attacked.

Still not too bad of a game but they could have done better. All other aspects of the game was pretty good.

The graphics are great.... the transition between the gameplay and the cut scenes seems smooth... Its the first time I have seen gameplay that switches between the characters of the game and that too can be done with such ease...

The game though seems to be have been designed with just one intent... too many enemies... Sometimes it feels like there are just too many to handle...

The camera angles is the worst part of the game... But i guess its bearable !!!

The final battle though is disappointment, could have been a lot better !!

Overall a good game which will keep you glued to the console for quite some time !

I paid for the item immediately and waited the timeframe of delivery but never received the item. I tried to contact the seller, but no reply and it says that he is no longer registered. I have filed a claim and am waiting to receive a reply from half.com.

I read all the reviews and then decided to purchase the game. What a mistake I made. The graphics and sound on this game are great! But the camera view and angle make this game outright frustrating. You would think they would use the R3 button to toggle the view, but they don't. I couldnt get over that. Action is repetitive and boring. I would give this game a 9 for graphics and sound but a 4 for the fun factor. Dont buy this game, trust me, you wont get over the camera views to enjoy the game.

I bought this a few weeks ago and I cant seem to put it down,I like the action in the game but most of all I love the graphics.

My husband bought this PS3 game for our twelve-year old boy. I have not played the game myself, but I have watched my son play it a lot. My concern with video games for his age group is always blood, gore and sex. He is kind of in-between games rated E-T. I really try hard to monitor every kind of media my son and his two younger brothers view, while being realistic about what is out there and what could actually be detrimental to their upbringing. This game does have a couple of bad words in it, which I don't like, but they are not among society's most "horrible" bad words. The thing about T-rated games, my husband explained to me, is that the skill level is more up to my son's level. He is being challenged to learn his way through this adventure, which arguably,is good for critical thinking/problem-solving skills. I have not witnessed any blood or gore, though there is fighting in the game. All in all, it is not a bad game for older kids (pre-teen). Boys would probably prefer it, but there is a cool female character in there for girls as well. My son loves it, my younger kids want to play it, but I won't let them just yet! My only personal beef with it so far, is the soundtrack...it drives me NUTS!

The gameplay is good and the story is very intresting... the only problem I had was like most people, the camera. Enemies have a strict advantage over you... making the game very stressful and annoying. Characters and weapons are really cool though..... ...

I've bought this game because it was in a good price and my girlfriend wanted to play this one for a long time and we couldn't find it in our country.
The game is fun and will keep you entertained for a while.
Don't expect anything revolutionary though
the biggest flaw i've found is the camera... you can't do anything about it, the camera is automatic.
If you like japanese culture, samurais and smashing some buttons, this game may be for you, but not worth a new game's price.

I rented the game and beated a while a go and I was waiting for the price to drop so I could by it. I kept checking wal-mart and other place from time-to-time but the prices barely dropped, then I found this game on ebay for a very very low price of just 9 dollars!! You can't beat that deal!! I love the game and will probably play it for a long time. WOHOOOO!!

This game is a good addition to the Gengi series. Which I liked alot myself.... If you like games set in japan with tons of action and swords try this one out, it's fun!!

I love samurai games so buying this was definitely a must...
Genji has a great look and control system when fighting. It's really weird trying to use 4 different characters but after some experience in playing you will get the hang of it. Every character has a specialty which you will need to get through the game and to get to certain area's/Hidden area's. Overall, Genji is a great game from my experience with it and I say try it for those gamers out there that want to try something new. And for the samurai lovers out there you should definitely buy this game, it's worth every penny... ;)

The moves are cool and the graphics a re nice.
I'd rather when the game has more realistic scenes than arcade.
It's good for those who don't care about realistic bloody stuff.

Good game.
Great graphics. Emphasis on the effects of fire.
Modeling of the characters well done with many details.
Soundtrack is also a plus along with the voice of the game.
The downside is the camera that the game is very bad and does not follow the action of the character.
Recommended.

I've read several reviews on this game, Genji: Days of The Blade. Most were above average, but really dogged the game. I downloaded the demo from the Playstation Store, and I really enjoyed it. I began to find it locally, no one had it. So, I came here to eBay. $7 later, and it arrived.

If you're a fan of God of War, Ninja Gaiden, any hack and slash style game, etc. you owe it to yourself to pick this title up. The game looks beautiful, and it is very entertaining. You'll find yourself leaning towards certain characters, but being able to change characters on the fly is a plus. Like the God of War series, Genji also has the cinematic scenes with the appropriate button mash sequences to defeat several enemies. These scenes look amazing.

With all the good comes some bad, however. The camera angles aren't adjustable, so you'll find yourself fighting the camera here and there. The on board compass does a decent enough job to help you locate your enemy. So, if you can get over the camera issues this is one great game.

I gave this an excellent rating for its value in price. I don't think you can find a better looking game for $10 and under.

My grand kids do not like this game at all. It is a hard game to play, they get frustrated and give up. Even the adults do not like it much. I have to give it thumbs down.

I liked the whole idea of the game, nice sword handling, very good player moves, nice soundtrack, graphics not that good, but not awful, regular, the bad thing, is you cant move the damn camera, so you dont see the enemies that are coming from behind, after the attacks finish very slow response of the player, so in fact, this game is really good,cause the history line, but everything else, i doesnt compare to the old Genjis

o man this game was good, only when u can see who u r fighting though, however that's not the case most of the time.

through out the game u'll be fighting sort of blind since the dude u r trying to kill will hide behind the camera. great...

other than that it's ok...

I love this game. I like being able to switch between players. I t is a great hack and slash game, But you also need to do some thinking too. The story is great too.
