UK Rap that's not like American Krap!Review created: 10/01/09

I've always liked Mike Skinner's music so I wanted to see what this CD had to offer. "Never Went To Church" actually made me well up as I also lost my dad so I really related to it...in my opinion it's his best track to date. There are a couple of songs that I wasn't too keen about but overall it's a great CD.
The Streets is definitely a type of UK rap music that takes some getting use to if you are all too familiar with the krap rap we have here in the states.

This one has plenty of Streets style. However, there is a bit of the originality of the first two missing. Seems like the sound is very 'typical' and identifiable with the first two albums but is missing some of the unique and surprising musical experiments from the other albums.
This feels a bit too much like American rap to me for the majority of the songs (few exceptions below).
If you love The Streets, then this is more of the same but if you are new to them, I'd buy an earlier album instead. Unless of course, you love American rap, then this is for you!
Memento Mori has a great sound, as does Never Went to Church but only for the background really.
