Marvel vs. Capcom 2 = CHAOTIC SEIZURE FUN
Review created: 03/05/06

I'm not joking, this game is very chaotic and might just possibly give the most immune adult a seizure. With up to six characters on the screen at a time, 56 total characters, and a ton of special moves; this game is amazingly chaotic! Play as all of your favorite Marvel and Capcom characters, including the ones that no one has ever heard of (really, we don't know where they came from). If you try this great 2D fighter, you may never go back to 3D!!

Although Marvel vs. Capcom 2 may be a button masher for some, air combos, infinities, and other moves require quite a bit of skill to pull off. Try for a 100+ hit combo, it's definitely possible!

The Dreamcast version of this game is the only console version of this game which gives 100% NAOMI arcade emulation. Thanks to Dreamcast's NAOMI hardware, everything is 100% in this game and there is never any slowdown like in its XBOX and PS2 counterparts. Also, thanks to the Dreamcast's excellent design, loading times are absolutely non-existant.

2D Games R super addictive; As addictive as 2D can get!

Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 is a game that you'll never get tired of! Addictive! Ha! From the introduction title screen, this game will blow you away and take hold of you and won't let go! Like I said in my post about the DC, this is my favorite game ever! Wikipedia(goggle it by typing in "Marvel vs capcom 2" "wikipedia") says that the DC version is the closest to the arcade version and that it easier to find at a cheaper price, when compared to PS2 and XBOX; you'll swear that you're playing a personalized arcade! There are few, if any, pauses! It has the best backgrounds(3D, some of which even move, and are so, so smooth and seamless) and the best sounds/musical themes(so, so smooth and flow exactly along with the action) of any fighting game ever; it has the best superpower animated action(game play)/super moves of any fighting game ever; it has the best characters(most hidden) of any fighting game ever; how can characters for a fighting game get better than the best superheroes and supervillians? Answer: There's no way. What company has the longest running fighting franchise in all of gaming history? Answer: Capcom. How can any other 2D game compete? Answer: It can't! This game has characters for every taste and I mean it; you won't believe some of the characters this game has; many characters can't be found on any other game; not only that, this collection is so complete that you'll probably need at least 3 of the most popular new and old gaming consoles(along with games) and about 10 additional coin-op arcades to even come close to using all of the characters seperately in a game; that should give you some perspective of the value. While not the only great tag team game out there, it is the best; you'll love the ways the tag teams can interact on this game! However you might rate video games, this game rates first or second in every conceivable 2D gaming category!

MVC2 combines super powers, guns, warrior fighting, trademark moves, air/ground combos, super slams, crushing attacks, bizarre moves, and special KO combos into one game! My favorite characters are Iron Man, Cable, War Machine, Spiderman, Venom, Akuma, Wolverine, Naruto(or the guy with the lightning blue sword), Cyclops, and that's all of my favorites that I can think of off the top of my head. I like to fight against the green alien/octopus looking creature that shoots eyes at you, Omega Red, and the super living cactus; I always seem to get a challenge when I fight them. Definitely better than the first, everything is better; in fact, if you have the second one, as I do, then you probably will find the first one boring. There's nothing lacking with this game and I give it an excellent rating. I'm out of superlatives here and so let me finish by saying that you'll be in an addictive cloud as you're playing this Sega Naomi arcade smash on the Dreamcast Sega Naomi arcade console! Dreamcast is now much cheaper than the other high quality systems and you'll have to play it to see that I'm not fibbing in the slightest! Wikipedia agrees with me!

If you have a problem boy 10 years or older, then try this game out for them, as they're eyes will be glued to the the screen for as long as it is on(not the hardest game to play, yet is super, super fun)!

The first home release of MvC 2 and still the best.
Review created: 09/07/06
3 of 4 people found this review helpful.

MvC2 is exactly what it sounds like: characters from the Marvel world and the Capcom world duke it out in over-the-top 2D graphics. With over 50 different characters to choose from (including Cable (from the X-Men universe), Jill Valentine (from Resident Evil), and Tron Bonne (from Mega Man Legends), among others), part of the fun is just coming up with new and different three person teams.

Which brings me to the fighting. Players choose teams of three, adjusting settings (such as what type of support attacks your non-active partners do, etc) and then they head out to fight. While the characters are 2D, the backgrounds are in full 3D...which is a nice touch, but since they do nothing to affect gameplay, you'll quickly forget about them (especially the one with the giant clown face - ugh). The controls are loose and responsive, allowing even beginners to piece together combos and special moves with relative ease. Anyone who has played any Capcom fighting game before will feel at home with these tired and true controls.

What really lets this game shine is how much fun it is to just sit down and play this game. Three character teams allow for a lot of trial and error when it comes to creating your own "perfect" team. Fighting is fierce and fast, constantly keeping you on your toes while also making this game a quick and easy pick-up.

But what it all boils down to is two player action. Nothing beats finding a great, working team of characters that shutdown a friend's favorite team or unleashing your entire team's super moves on a defenseless player, turning the tide of a close battle. You can still have plenty of fun with this game alone, unlocking all the secrets, but once that is over, what keeps this product such a high level product is multi-player.

Now, as a buyer, you have three versions to choose from when buying this game. The Dreamcast version is slightly superior than the two re-releases on the PS2 and Xbox with cleaner, less pixelated graphics and a much smaller price tag. If you love 2D, over-the-top fighting, any of Capcom's other Vs. titles or are looking for a new multiplayer title, give this game a try! It will not disappoint!

Best fighting game waiting for MvsC3

This game is definatly the best Street Fighter/ fighting game I have ever purchased, I wasn't entirly sure if I was going to like it but I was wrong, the controls are the best the fighting is fast and it has a lot of replay value since you have to unlock just about everything. The only thing I dislike about the game is the soundtrack. The music doesn't suit the game one bit.

One of the Best arcade fighters ever
Review created: 23/12/09

This game has fighters from a wide range of games and comics. Marvel characters went through a lot of work on Capcom's part to truly integrate them into their fighting system. The fights are fast and crazy. The game rewards speed over strategy, though seasoned players will find that the game has incredible depth in its combat interface and greatly rewards chain combos and lighting reflexes.
This game is THE must have if you own a Dreamcast!

This game is one of the best games of the most advanced console of its time, Marvel vs Capcom 2. This game along with Crazy Taxi, Jet Grind Radio, Shenmue, etc, etc are the best of them all. The massive combo action and a lot of characters to pick, gives an enormous amount of entertainment and hours of gameplay. Its a must have, if you are a Dreamcast owner/lover.

  Don't buy from this guy
Review created: 03/10/09
by:

The game I bought is to be played by a korean video game system. I bought this game as a present for my boyfriend who lives in North Carolina, USA. And it really sucked to have him open it and not be able to play it because of something I wasn't made aware of before i bought it. Then, when i contacted the seller, he made it very clear to me, that I was stupid for not asking him fisrt. So basically, Im sitting around with a wasted $50.00 game that I can do nothing with, no returns, no exceptions. I do not recommend buying anything from this guy.

I'm gonna take you for a ride... ENOUGH ALREADY!!!
Review created: 15/08/09

The marriage of franchises has seldomly been very successful. Remember the Jetsons meet the Flintstones? Okay, so they were both owned by Hannah Barbara but that turned out kinda bad. When it comes to video game franchises though, anything goes. Such is the case with Marvel Vs Capcom 2. Yes, the first M V C was an extraordinary game with lots of bonus characters. This game though has a grand total of I think about 56 characters(Most of which you have to unlock). If you want to unlock all these great characters which come from both sides of the universe, you will need both patience and a great deal of endurance. Don't get me wrong though, this game is fun fun fun. Whether you love the Capcom characters(Mega man, Roll, Strider, Captain Commando, Jill Valentine, Sonson, Hayato, Guile, M Bison, Chun Li, Etc) or the Marvel characters(Magneto, Wolverine, Gambit, Rogue, Hulk, Spiderman, Captain America, Cable, Iron man, War Machine, Etc) you'll have a good time because this game is not just for the skilled gamer but also can be played as a button masher. You choose three characters and you go through about 8 stages before you encounter some ridiculously powerful and bosses so big they take up more room than is on the screen! It's unbelievable how awesome it is to pair three characters from these very different universes together to kick some serious butt. I mean, there's no plot to the game, the music is kinda inappropriate, but despite all this this is one of the top ten best fighting games ever. But do yourself a favor and get this for the Dreamcast, not the Xbox or PS2. On the flipside, the new hi-def version on the Xbox 360 and PS3 is great, so that's another option for you there.
