Unbreakable (DVD, 2001, Vista Series 2-Disc Set)

"Unbreakable" brings us a seemingly impossible feat -- an action film which features little action. But, the amazing story is enough to leave any viewer breathless. And don’t worry, knowledge about or appreciation of comic books is not a prerequisite for enjoying the film. The DVD brings us a sparkling transfer, with great audio, but leaves something to be desired with second disc. Take it from me, "Unbreakable" is no "train wreck" of a movie.

If you like comic books and superheros, then this is a must see. I love M. Night Shyamalan's style. Highly recomended flick. Turn outh the lights and crank the surround sound. Forget the pop corn. I forgot I had mine sitting in my lap. You can always count on Bruce Willis for his rock steady performances. And of course the ever cool Samuel L. Jackson. A creepy cool movie.

If you are a fan of M. Night Shamalyan's work, this is a must for you. Great to see Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson do a movie together. Interesting characters and storyline. The plot doesn't leave you hanging at the end. A bit on the fantacy side, but still a great movie full of hope.

Overall, I love this movie! It's creative, thought-provoking, and suspenseful. M. Night did a great job with this one. Though I love all of his movies, this one had to be the most real and therefore one of his most intriguing films yet. The acting is also amazing, but then again, when is Bruce Willis not at his best? Samuel L. Jackson also did a fantastic job. Because the film is set in the present, the audience is left wondering, is it possible that real heroes and villains roam our streets? The movie also has its emotional scenes with the father/son relationship, a failing marriage, and a fragile man who has grown up accepting the fact that he will never be able to live the way others do. I definitely give it two thumbs up!

I bought the special edition DVD because I loved this movie, but only had it on VHS.
The bonus material is good...especially the interviews with M. Night and Samuel L. Jackson...makes the Special Edition version worth the extra cost.

As far as the movie itself, it is one of my top ten, if not top three films of all-time. It is, by far, my favorite superhro movie. WARNING: It is NOT like Iron Man, X-Men, Batman, etc. (no big explosions or blue & yellow spandex). I do like and enjoy the recent spate of superhero movies (I am also a long-time comic fan), but this movie/story provides the "realistic" rationale for 'heroes' in the real world.

It is basically the origin story of an original hero (played by Bruse Willis). As M. Night puts it "is the first act of a three act-play". My son (action-addict) did not like it...we will give him a couple years and see. It is methodically-paced and can easily be too slow-moving for some viewers. It, like most M. Night films, has a 'surprise ending'...I will not spoil it for you.

It is also the story of redemption. The main character is not happy. It can be seen as a parable for/of most modern, middle-aged men who know that 'something' is missing from their lives.

It is also the story of deserving what our sons think of us (at least until they become teenagers).

It also presents an interesting theory of how/why heroes might exist based on the spectrum of genetic differences (similarly and better than the TV show Heroes [also one of my favs]) and can lead to interesting discussions of how different-from-the-norm is "super".

So, it is a GREAT film. Not everyone will like it, but if you want a "thinking-man's superhero movie", this is it.

I just love this movie because of the element of surprise in it. It's suspenseful and even if you've seen it once or twice you will still find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat. There's a lot to be said for the balance of good versus evil. Besides I love most of Bruce Willis' work. It's one of those movies that I will be sure watch until it's worn out.

Who can resist a super hero??

Certainly not ME. I'd have one of my own if I could. Anyone like to fill out an application? lol ;)

I watched this one while having not the slightest idea WHAT the subject matter was...which I think MAY have been a good thing, as I found it such a stunning, shocking conclusion? (And I am the woman you HATE to sit near in the theatre because I absolutely KNOW the ending ten minutes into the movie, believe me!)

As a result, I didn't expect super hero actions from Bruce Willis, I didn't expect super villain actions from such a seemingly NICE and pathetic, hurting person as Samuel L. Jackson...

That was a total shock. The whole movie was a shock. I should have read the reviews first.

If you don't expect it, it's not only a great surprise, it's an extraordinary PLEASURE!

I expect it is the same EVEN with the expectation of superhero/villain scenario.

The movie is filmed so darkly it is almost a warning...but it is a triumph for Bruce Willis as the Dad and his worshipful son as well.

This is a must see!

The movie starts off with a train wreck. However, they decided not to show the train wreck at all. You see Willis riding the train and then his son sees a news bulletin about a train wreck. Lame. And right there, you know this movie is going to be boring.

The entire movie revolves around Willis discovering that he's a comic book superhero. Not a bad premise, I will grant you that. But nothing ever happens. The movie leads into scenes where some action could occur, but nothing ever does. And I'm saying that the film needs ot be action packed, but it's pretty dull since NOTHING ever happens.

The end is easily predicted. Of course, we know who the bad guy is all along. The bad guy is always the dramatic foil of the good guy (physically and mentally). In this movie, you know who the bad guy is right away because it's so easy to pick out the dramatic foil to Willis.

Lame movie. I generally like M. Night Shyamalan's work, so don't think I am riding the bandwagon by bashing him. I really enjoyed "The Village," "The Sixth Sense," and "Signs." But this one just falls short.

My advice: don't waste the two hours of your life.

A good movie for Bruce Willis. Great cinematography by Eduardo Serra. Terrific storyline. I am starting to follow writer-director M. (Manoj) Night Shyamalan more closely. After Lady in the Water, Sixth Sense & Signs, I find Shyamalan to be very good at weaving a great tale, holding onto his audience without gratuitous and unnecessary violence, swearing or sexually explicite scenes. I thoroughly enjoy these tales of intrigue and fantasy from a master storyteller.

Dark, quiet and brooding, Bruce Willis is fantastic in his role of yet another unwilling hero. Samual Jackson also stars in another memorable role as "Mr. Glass". Though some may find it slow, fans of Willis, Jackson and M. Knight will watch intensely as the story builds and the plot thickens in what is probably M. Night's best movie to date.

You put M. Night Shyamalan on the jacket, you know you got a good movie. You add Bruce Willis and Sam Jackson, you have a great movie. Very unique plot, comic books, and that M. Night twist. Great flick.

This movie displays M. Night Shamylan's idea of the superhero in an alternative view of what is reality for REAL people. The movie has the unique ability to end happy and sad at the same time. But then, isn't that how life is? One of my favorites and highly recommemded for discussion with the 4A.M. Cafe crowd.

A very interesting movie and keeps you guessing until the end! I have seen this movies many times and it never gets old. I LOVE IT!

If you are a fan of Bruce Willis then you will enjoy this movie but if you are a collector of Movies and looking for a M Night Shamalan movie then dont miss this one

This movie is awesome because for superhero fans (like me!) there needed to be a movie like this one. It stars Samuel L. Jackson and Bruce Willis, and what incredible actors they are! If you want to see a movie you've never seen before, pick this one! I'd tell you more about it, but I don't want to ruin it for you. What I love about some movies is that there is information given to you from the very beginning that causes the ending, and you have no idea until you watch the ending! But don't skip to the ending! This is a movie you need to see from start to finish. I'll just say that it makes you think...

Very deep film. The cinematography was excellent as well as the over-all acting of all the players. The use of color was very important in this film, and spoke many languages. I was intrested in M. Nights work since the Sixth Sense, and was curious as to what he would do after that. I'm just sorry it took all these years to finally see it! I would recommend it to anyone!!!

Although I enjoy other movies with these two actors, this one was just so-so for me. The story idea was good, maybe it would have been more interesting if the roles were switched or maybe some other two guys played these parts. I don't know, it was just average.

The movie was freaky and it tripped me out. Bruce willis as a superhero is crzy and whack. Samuel Jackson as a villain even better! The whole movie was intense and I enjoyed all of it.

This is in my top movie list. love acting from leading characters. movie real deep and makes you thing.thats what i like in movie especially M. Night Shyamalan's movies.
